What is BitShares?

BitShares (BTS) was developed in 2014 and is an efficient global payment network based on a decentralised platform. The BitShare platform is used for trading cryptocurrencies without intermediaries and is powered by the BitShares token (BTS).

  • BTS has several uses, its main appeal being the creation of smartcoins, which can be used for a multitude of different things such as reward points, or fiat-pegged tokens and IOUs.
  • BitShares main drawing point is its integrated decentralised exchange. This exchange allowes individuals to conduct trades without the need for a middle man
  • Due to the above, BitShares has been referred to as the world's first DeFi (decentralised finance) capable blockchain and token.
