What is Marlin?

Marlin (POND) is an open Layer 0 protocol that provides highly programmable network infrastructure for both DeFi and Web 3. POND is the native utility token of the Marlin ecosystem.

  • As one of the few layer-0 protocols that focuses on layer optimisation, Marlin has begun to appear more often in the decentralised landscape, as all peer-to-peer applications depend on smooth communication between nodes to function.
  • The Marlin ecosystem is sustained by the running of ‘MetaNodes’. These ‘MetaNodes’ help keep the network running at peak efficiency and they are operated by the Marlin virtual machine.
  • POND has a number of uses in the Marlin ecosystem. Individuals who hold POND can vote on governance decisions. It is also used to provide incentives and rewards for those utilising the protocol, such as staking and node operators.

As the brainchild of previous Microsoft and Adobe employees, as well as researchers from the Ethereum Foundation, Marlin aims to be an effective and high performance layer-0 protocol to ensure the future of Web 3.
