What is Songbird?

Songbird (SGB) is a "Canary Network" used to support live testing of the Flare blockchain.

  • A “Canary network” is an operational blockchain used to test features for a related main net blockchain. Polkadot was the first blockchain to use this concept, with their Kusama Network.
  • The Songbird blockchain will be used for continued testing of Flare protocols, network architecture and governance changes.
  • SGB tokens were distributed as part of the Spark (FLR) distribution, further SGB tokens can be obtained through the Flare Time Series Oracle (FTSO) & validator rewards systems.

Users will be able to use Songbird to complete advanced testing and community building for applications they wish to launch on Flare. Additionally, the network will enable FLR token holders to familiarise themselves with key Flare protocols without putting their FLR tokens at risk.
