What is Stellar?

Stellar (XLM) is a blockchain-based distributed ledger network with a goal to create a platform that connects banks, payments systems, and individuals. XLM is the protocol token of the Stellar network. The Stellar platform is an open network that allows money to be moved and stored while XLM serves as a bridge that makes it less expensive to trade assets internationally.

  • When Stellar was created in 2014 one of its original aims was to put emphasis on the worlds ‘unbanked’ population. Using the Stellar network, individuals can build mobile wallets and banking tools without relying on traditional avenues.
