What is Venus?

Venus (XVS) is building a Decentralised Finance (DeFi) marketplace on Binance Smart Chain to enable digital asset lending and generation of synthetic stablecoins.

  • The platform looks to provide over-collateralised lending, interest earning and ability to mint VAI - the protocol's default synthetic stablecoin.
  • Collateral provided to Venus will be represented by vTokens, for example BTC provided will become vBTC.
  • XVS is the governance token of the platform and is primarily used for voting in various decisions such as product improvement, integration and changes in parameters.

The Venus team have observed that DeFi protocols are primarily built on Ethereum, which they believe have become costly, slow, and has caused pain points in user experience. By leveraging Binance Smart Chain, the team believe they are able to provide a high speed and low cost alternative protocol.
