What is Cortex?

Cortex (CTXC) is an open-source decentralised blockchain network that aims to support Artificial Intelligence models via the Cortex Virtual Machine. CTXC is used as the fee for smart contract execution.

  • With the goal of providing fast and free smart contract use, Cortex does this with the help of the Cortex Virtual Machine which has been ported from the ETH Virtual Machine. This then interacts with Cortex's AI layers of inference.
  • Cortex uses a Proof of Work consensus mechanism. Using their in house virtual machine they are able to make the blockchain in use, currently the ERC-20 network, a fast and accurate Proof of Work mechanism.
  • Transactions are sorted into smart contracts, the CTXC token is then used as a fee for the execution of the smart contracts. Miners on the network are paid once their transaction has been completed.

Cortex plans to continue the development of the blockchain by focusing on online and offline development workshops, creating open model libraries and datasets as well as further collaboration with academia to continue research in the space.
